2006 IRB SEMINARS

November IRB Seminar, “Completing the IRB Application to Facilitate Review”
This seminar will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, from 12:00 P.M.—1:15 P.M. at 107 Bessey. An overview of the MSU IRB application process, including how to use the IRB online application system will be provided.  Tips obtained from IRB members and staff on how to facilitate review of IRB applications and common issues that arise and how to avoid them will be discussed. Attendees may ask general or specific questions about completing the application and the online application system. Registration is not required.

December IRB Seminar, “
Developing the Ideal Consent Process and Forms”
This seminar will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, from 12:00 P.M. – 1:15 P.M. at 111 Bessey. Tips on how to develop an “ideal” consent process and form that meets regulatory and ethical requirements will be presented.  Issues specific to certain types of consent forms (e.g., online, telephone, etc.) and research (e.g., exempt) will be discussed. Participants will review and critique sample consent forms, and “vote” on their approval. Registration is not required.

 

HOW TO SUBMIT AN INITIAL IRB APPLICATION WORKSHOP

Additional Dates for the How To Submit an Initial IRB Application Workshop Added!

·         Wednesday, November 29 from 9:00 A.M.—11:00 A.M.

·         Tuesday, December 19 from 9:00 A.M.—11:00 A.M.

These popular workshops will be held in 12 Olds Hall, a computer lab, where attendees will get an interactive overview of the IRB submission and review process. Sessions will include a hands-on demonstration of how to use the online application system and allow individuals to begin or work on an existing IRB application. Registration is required. Registration forms are available at http://www.humanresearch.msu.edu/training/training_index.htm#workshops . Additional dates may be added based on interest.
